The world is always changing rapidly. This past year seems to have been extremely hectic. Maybe that's just the direction people are moving; to be busier and busier, to the point were we barely have time to stop and think about anything. It's during these times that we must not lose our connection with nature, because this is what will always bring us back down to earth.

I mention this because this blog is about birds... another group of busy creatures that never seem to stop either. Though it is good to be a busy warbler, fluttering quickly from branch to branch, never stopping for more than a second, sometimes it's good to be an owl. Standing still to observe the world around you, and taking in every detail.

I know people don't read blogs too much nowadays with Instagram and Facebook, Snapchat and Twitter. It still is a useful tool to post something that requires a lot more information than a short snippet of something much more complicated.

I hope to post my artwork here, which comprises mainly of bird carvings that fall into two categories:
1-  three-dimensional carvings that are made from a solid piece of basswood. These resemble the actual size and shape of the bird.
2- What I call "flats". These are more  two-dimensional, usually consisting of a flat piece of basswood, that is less than a centimeter thick.  These are usually made into magnets or framed.

 The birds I carve are  primarily species found here in South Florida.  Sometimes I will carve birds from other areas that I've seen while on vacation or traveling. I always carve  birds that I have personally seen.
